The Boston Terrier is a watch dog, not a guard dog; meaning that they will usually bark to alert you of the approach of someone to your home, but not guard you. They may be wary of strangers and strange dogs. Bostons are good with other household pets. They are in the non sport category, but some must be consistently trained how to behave around other animals which are not in their immediate home environment (i.e. chicken coop, barn, etc) in order not to make sport of them. Bostons are moderately active, love to jump and love agility training. They are wonderful with children including small children, of course provided the children are trained to respect animals or watched if the child is very young. The learning rate of Bostons is high and they love to please. They are considered a companion dog. Their height ranges from 10” to 17”. Their weight is divided into three categories: small – under 15#, medium – 15-19#, large 20-25#. Bostons shed insignificantly and their hair is very short with no undercoat. Because their large, beautiful, expressive eyes are somewhat protuding they need a little extra protection from excessive sun, thorns, feisty cat claws, dust, which can scratch (use drops if it's a particularly dusty walk), and too much air pressure (don't let them hang their head out car windows and this is bad for any dog's eyes). The lifespan of a Boston is 11-13 years.
Our Boston Terriers, called Good-N-Sweet Bostons, are family pets raised in our home with access to an adjacent pen via doggy door. These are the only dogs we have and raise. We have two females, Yivi and Sassy, and one male, Starbuck. They are all AKC registered. The threesome have been raised together and that bonding has helped them get through jealousies, etc., as they are not kept separately from each other or our family, where they receive daily interaction, attention and spoiling. They have been raised around other household pets to include a cat and a bird (as are their puppies). We have a third generation pedigree on each of the three adult Bostons.

We are a Christian homeschool family living on an 80 acre farm in the heart of Missouri Ozarks. We have always enjoyed having animals through the years and now are especially enjoying the three Bostons who allow us to share our home with them. :) Three of our seven children have flown the coop. Our oldest son is serving in the army as a Vet Tech. Our oldest two daughters are married and we collectively have a total of eight granddaughters who love to come see the Bostons. We are expecting our first grandson in February from our second oldest daughter, who is a photographer, and took most of the photos of the dogs. Our second son plans to attend College of the Ozarks next year. The remaining boys stay busy with school, football, etc. and our youngest daughter, besides school, enjoys babysitting and helping with the Bostons.
